Does Intermittent Fasting Make You Lose Muscle or Fat?

It seems there is a lot of discussion about whether intermittent fasting causes you to lose muscle or fat. This article discusses studies that looked at intermittent fasting and the effect on the body regarding muscle and fat. The first study found that intermittent fasting causes the participants to lose an average of 12 pounds over the course of 8 weeks. Another study found that men in the intermittent fasting group lost three more pounds of fat than the control group and that intermittent fasting did not slow the rate of muscle growth. Protein!

If you’re trying to lose weight, make sure you eat enough protein. Protein is positively associated with weight loss because it helps keep you full and reduces snacking. This article discusses some good protein sources including trail mix. Trail mix is a mix of nuts, dried fruit, and sometimes chocolate and can provide up to eight grams of protein in 2 oz. 1 red apple

3/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
1/2 cup nonfat milk

1/2 cup uncooked tri color quinoa
1 cup water

1 orange
1/3 cup cranberries
