Eleven of the Most Nutrient Dense Foods on the Planet

Have you ever wondered if you are eating foods that are “feeding” your body the nutrients you need?  This article shares some of the most nutrient dense foods available.  One such food is egg yolk.  Egg yolk is so nutritious that it is often referred to as “nature’s multivitamin” and they contain a good quality of protein and healthy fat, which some studies have found are great for weight loss.  When dieting, calories are very important, so making sure you are eating foods that are high in nutrients is important.   If you are interested in learning what other foods are included in the list, click here.

Sitting Too Much Can Kill You

The American Cancer Society performed a survey to determine if sitting more than 6 hours a day could lead to early death.  The finding of this survey was that if someone sits more than 6 hours a day, it can raise their risk of early death by 19%.  Some of the top causes of death were cancer, coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.  This article also states that even if you exercise for the recommended 30 minutes, if you sit for 6 hours a day, you are at higher risk of premature death.  If you want to read more about the other diseases this survey looked at and why someone who sits 6 or more hours a day is at higher risk of death  click here.

Number One Nut to Avoid While Dieting

How many times have you been told to eat nuts because they are a healthy snack and can help with weight loss?  Nuts are high in fats and protein and, therefore, many people who are dieting eat them so they feel full longer. Unfortunately, not all nuts are created equal.  Pistachios are about 160 calories per ounce while macadamia nuts are 200 calories and 20 grams of fat in just 10 nuts!  If you want to learn more about which nuts to incorporate into your weight loss plan read on.

Why Am I Not Losing Weight?

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Shake

1 cup unsweetened soymilk
3/4 sliced frozen banana
1/2 reduced fat plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp natural peanut butter

Acai Bowl:
Tropical Acai Bowl

1 1/2 cups frozen mango chunks
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 cup frozen banana chunks
2 packets frozen unsweetened acai berry puree
1 cup ice cold water
1-2 tbsp lime juice

recommended garnishes: granola, shredded unsweetened coconut, chooped nuts, etc

Sweet Potato & Black Bean Tacos
1-2 medium sweet potatoes
4 tbsp oil
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 medium yellow onion
1 clove of garlic 
1 jalapeno
1-15oz can black beans
corn tortillas
fresh cilantro

One Pot Lemon Herb Chicken & Rice

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 tbsp butter
3 tsp Italian seasoning
salt and pepper
1 cup uncooked white rice
2 1/4 cups chicken broth
juice of one lemon
